Scholarship Programs

T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood ® Project. This program provides scholarships to early childhood professionals to obtain college credit towards earning a child development credential or college degree and increased compensation for the attainment of higher education.

Tiered Reimbursement Rates

Ohio pays higher reimbursement rates to child care centers and family child care programs that are accredited by National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), National Early Childhood Program Accreditation (NECPA), American Montessori Society (AMS), MSAC, National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC), NCAA.


Unionization

In September 2003, early care and education teachers who work directly with children in the at the Owens Community College Child Care Center and lab instructors from the same institution who work with college students preparing to become early care and education teachers, voted to “opt-in” to the existing faculty union, Owens Faculty Assocation/OFT-AFT.
