Organizations/Coalitions

Child Care WORKS Coalition, established in 1983, brings together parents, caregivers and advocates across Minnesota to improve child care services for all families. Their free email updates make it easy to stay informed about child care workforce issues and to advocate when your help is needed most.

Scholarship Programs

T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood ® Project, gives scholarships to child care workers to complete course work in early childhood education and to increase their compensation.

Tiered Reimbursement Rates

Minnesota pays higher reimbursement rates to child care centers and family child care programs that are accredited by National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), National Early Childhood Program Accreditation (NECPA), Council of Accreditation for Services to Families and Children (COA), National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC), and National Head Start Program of Excellence.


Wage Incentives

R.E.E.T.A.I.N. (Retaining Early Educators Through Attaining Incentives Now) is a workforce retention program for early childhood and school-age care providers. REETAIN provides a financial incentive for child care providers based on the level of education attained, length of service in the child care field, salary and other considerations.

Other Resources

Build Initiative, is a multi-state partnership that helps coordinate policy initiatives to improve child care quality. Minnesota was one of the states selected to receive a $350,000 grant through May 4 to build a comprehensive system for early care and education.
