Professional Development Opportunities

Maine Roads to Quality (ME Roads). Currently in the process of implementing a trainer and training approval system, and a provider registry that are all linked to an early care and education career lattice (but not yet linked to increased compensations). Accreditation support is also available through ME Roads, offering providers financial support, technical assistance and training to help with the accreditation process.

Public/Private Partnerships

New Partners Study Maine is one of the New England states involved in the NEW Partners Study, which is identifying gaps in the New England child care workforce. This initiative is funded through the Child Care Bureau in Washington, DC.

Tiered Reimbursement Rates

Maine pays higher reimbursement rates to child care centers and family child care programs that are accredited by National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), National School-age Care Alliance (NSACA) and National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC).
